Ferrari 250 GTI Sells For £20 Million In UK

A Ferrari 250 GTI has become the most expensive car to ever be sold on British soil after the classic motor changed hands for £20 million.
The vehicle, one of only 39 models to be produced between 1962 and 1964, is believed to have been sold by business entrepreneur Jon Hunt, who bought the car in 2008 for £15.8 million.
It means that Hunt has been able to make a £4.2 million profit on the original car that he purchased four years ago.
Hunt, who sold the Foxtons estate agency that he created in the 1980s just before the global recession took place, is known for his love of cars, with him reputedly owning several Aston Martins which he has acquired over the years.
Although the news has only just come out, it is believed that the agreement to sell took place over the previous two weeks following rumours about a deal in the classic and vintage car press.
Given the number 5095, the Ferrari is thought to have been sold to a Spanish national, with the new owner being in an exclusive club which contains radio DJ Chris Evans and Nick Mason, the Pink Floyd drummer.
This particular 250 GTI model has a three-litre V12 engine which can reach 174 miles per hour and takes 6.1 seconds to go from 0-60 miles per hour.
The sale is not the most expensive in the world; that title went to a 1936 Bugatti 57SC which was sold in 2010 for between £20 million and £26 million.
